It features a 3/8 inch diameter with a 0.0299 inch corner radius, a 4-flute right-hand spiral configuration, and a 48-degree high helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting. The tool is coated with SIRON-A, a coating designed to extend tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous metals. It is a single-end, centercutting design, meaning it can plunge directly into the workpiece. This end mill belongs to the SECO JS554 series and is configured for roughing material removal operations. It is suited for use on vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers handling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous metals. The 3/4 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length make it appropriate for standard-depth milling slots, pockets, and profiles where extended reach is not required. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard end mill holders and collet chucks sized for 3/8 inch tooling.
Designed for use in standard 3/8 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous metals per SECO material codes P, M, K, H, S, and N.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. The tool should be seated fully and securely in a matched 3/8 inch toolholder and torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specifications before spindle operation. Verify spindle runout against the stated TIR maximum of 0.0004 inch before engaging the cut. Do not exceed the cutting parameters recommended for the workpiece material grade and coating type; running incorrect feeds and speeds for this coating and helix combination will shorten tool life.
