Built to the CFS toolholder style within SECO's Multi-Directional Turning (MDT) series, it accepts LC.. 1603.. series inserts secured by a clamp-style insert holding method. The toolholder delivers a maximum depth of cut of 0.95 inches and a minimum groove width of 3mm (0.1181 inches), making it well suited for tight-tolerance external grooving on stainless steel and similarly demanding workpiece materials. Overall length is 6 inches with a 1 inch by 1 inch square shank.
This toolholder is intended for external, non-face grooving operations in professional machining environments. Its right-hand cutting direction suits standard lathe setups where tooling is mounted conventionally. The primary workpiece material designation is stainless steel (ISO material code M), though the MDT platform is broadly applicable to precision turning work requiring repeatable groove geometry. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or changing tooling per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Inserts must be indexed or replaced with the spindle fully stopped; never attempt insert changes with the machine in motion.
