The SECO 02689817 is an indexable square-shoulder face mill designed for high-performance metal cutting in milling applications. Built around the Super Turbo series platform, it accepts 6 inserts and supports through-coolant delivery to manage heat and chip evacuation during aggressive cuts. The cutter measures 2.5 inches in cutting diameter with a 0.75-inch arbor hole and an overall height of 1.57 inches. A 0/90 degree lead angle produces true square shoulders, making this mill well-suited for stepped features and perpendicular wall finishing. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in production or job-shop environments.
This face mill is used in milling operations requiring precise square-shoulder profiles on ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Its tool application range includes helical interpolation, ramping, and slotting, covering a broad set of machining strategies on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The maximum ramping angle is 1.50 degrees. Compatible insert styles are XOEX1204 and XOMX 1204, providing flexibility in insert selection based on workpiece material and cutting conditions. The right-hand cutting direction and positive axial rake with negative radial rake geometry support controlled chip formation and reduced cutting forces.
Compatible with XOEX1204 and XOMX 1204 insert styles. The cutter style designation is R220.69, part of the SECO Super Turbo series platform.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's spindle and arbor specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the face mill. Verify arbor fit, drawbar torque, and runout with a dial indicator before first use. Through-coolant lines should be checked for proper connection and flow rate before initiating a cut cycle.
