The SECO 02688947 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation ONMU090520ANTN-M15 and manufacturer grade MP3000. The insert features an octagonal shape with 16 cutting edges, making it a high-yield option for face and shoulder milling operations. A PVD-applied TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection suited to demanding cutting environments. The insert measures 0.8661 inches on the inscribed circle, 0.2189 inches thick, and carries a 0.0787-inch corner radius. With a negative rake angle, T-land cutting edge style, and neutral hand orientation, it delivers controlled chip formation and stable cutting action. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is engineered for milling hard materials, steel, and stainless steel. The M15 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium cutting conditions across these material groups, corresponding to ISO material codes H, P, and M. It is a double-sided insert held in the cutter body by a screw-clamp method, and is compatible with SECO cutter series R220.48-09 and L220.48-09. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and profile milling on machining centers in both production and job-shop environments. The maximum depth of cut is 0.3031 inches per pass.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R220.48-09 and L220.48-09. Insert conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under designation ONMU090520ANTN-M15, series ONMU-09.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the insert clamping screw per the cutter body manufacturer specifications — do not over-tighten, as this can damage the insert or pocket. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh edge.
