The SECO 02688942 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI/ISO designation ONMU090520ANTN-M15 and manufactured to grade MK1500. The insert is octagonal in shape with 16 cutting edges, making it a high-utilization option for face milling operations. It features a TiCN plus Al2O3 CVD Duratomic coating applied over a micrograin carbide substrate. The negative rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style and 0.0787-inch corner radius is engineered for stable cutting in cast iron applications. At 0.2189 inches thick with an inscribed circle of 0.8661 inches, it seats into screw-held clamping pockets on compatible cutter bodies. A licensed machinist or tooling technician typically installs and indexes this insert on a CNC milling machine.
This insert is intended for milling cast iron workpieces, referenced under workpiece material code K. The double-sided design with 16 usable cutting edges extends tooling value across production runs. The M15 chip breaker geometry controls chip formation in the moderate feed ranges common to cast iron face milling. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.3031 inches, and the cutting edge effective length matches that value. It is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Compatible with cutter series R220.48-09 and L220.48-09 per supplier data. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production stocking insert for face milling cutter bodies accepting ONMU-09 series inserts.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturers specified torque range when tightening the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to avoid edge breakage or runout.
