The SECO 02687569 is a solid carbide ball nose milling insert designed for use in indexable end mill tooling systems. It carries the ANSI/ISO designation 218.20-0.250ER-ME03 and is manufactured to the F40M grade using fine-grain carbide substrate. The insert features a PVD-applied dual coating of TiAlN and TiN, which improves wear resistance and thermal stability during high-speed cutting operations. With a 0.250-inch corner radius, a 0.4890-inch length, and a 0.0992-inch thickness, this insert is built for precise contouring and profiling passes. It is suited for licensed machining professionals and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The ME03 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and semi-finishing operations on these materials. The positive rake angle of 11 degrees and honed cutting edge style reduce cutting forces and support stable tool engagement. It is a right-hand, single-sided insert with two cutting edges, secured by screw clamping in compatible toolholders. Typical applications include 3-axis and 4-axis CNC milling of complex contours, cavities, and sculptured surfaces.
Compatible with the R218.20-0.500 cutter series. Designed as a direct-fit replacement insert for toolholders in the 218.20-0.500 series per ANSI/ISO standard 218.20-0.250ER-ME03.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder specification — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before each insert change to ensure proper seating and runout control.
