The SECO 02672314 is a double-ended, neutral-hand turning insert designed for multi-directional turning operations. Built from micrograin solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating, it delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 0.236-inch maximum cutting width, a 0.177-inch cutting height, and a 0.016-inch corner radius. It belongs to the MDT series and carries the CP500 manufacturer grade. The GG chipbreaker geometry supports consistent chip control during interrupted and continuous cuts. Machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in compatible multi-directional turning toolholders for precision groove and turn applications.
The 02672314 is suited for use across multiple workpiece material categories, including hardened materials (H), cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), non-ferrous materials (N), steel (P), and heat-resistant superalloys (S). Its neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to both left- and right-approach cutting strategies. The double-end configuration extends usable tool life by providing two cutting edges per insert. Typical applications include OD profiling, multi-directional turning, and light groove work on CNC lathes in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in MDT series multi-directional turning toolholders accepting LCGF-style inserts with insert size code 160604. Compatible workpiece material categories include H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated by the primary material codes in the input data.
This insert is installed and replaced by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as micrograin carbide is brittle under excessive clamping force. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for damage or debris before seating a new insert.
