The SECO 02670048 is a 45-degree indexable chamfer face mill designed for precision chamfering and face milling operations on machining centers and milling machines. Built around the R220.49 cutter series, it accepts nine XO 1204 series inserts secured by screw-clamp retention and delivers a right-hand cut with a combined negative radial and positive axial rake geometry. The maximum cutting diameter is 3.126 inches with a minimum cutting diameter of 1.370 inches, a maximum depth of cut of 0.866 inches, and a 1-inch arbor hole for straightforward spindle mounting. Through-coolant capability supports chip evacuation and tool life in continuous cutting applications.
This face mill is suited for chamfering and milling operations in medium to high-volume production environments. The three-flute configuration balances cutting force and feed rate in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The R220.49 series is a standard platform in production shops running CNC vertical or horizontal milling centers where repeatable chamfer geometry and fast insert indexing are priorities. The maximum rated spindle speed is 11,600 RPM, making it compatible with a wide range of modern machining center spindles.
Compatible insert types include XOEX 120402R-M07, XOEX 120404FR-E06, XOEX 120404R-M07, XOEX 120408FR-E06, XOEX 120408R-M07, XOEX 120408ZZR-M07, XOEX 120416FR-E06, XOEX 120416R-M07, XOEX 120420FR-E06, XOEX 120424R-M07, XOEX 120431FR-E06, XOEX 120431R-M07, XOEX 120440R-M07, and XOEX 120450R-M. The cutter mounts via a 1-inch arbor hole with a 0.380-inch keyway width.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before mounting or removing the cutter body or indexing inserts. Verify arbor and spindle interface fit before tightening; confirm coolant-through passages are clear and aligned with the machine spindle before operation. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for drawbar retention and insert screw tightening using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the insert size in use.
