The SECO 02656563 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XOMX180612TR-MD15 and manufacturer grade MP3000. It is a single-sided, right-hand parallelogram insert from the XOMX-18 series, designed for indexable milling operations in demanding material removal applications. The insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, a T-Land cutting edge style, and an MD15 chip breaker geometry. With two cutting edges per insert and a maximum depth of cut of 0.6693 inches, it is suited for productive face and shoulder milling work performed by machinists and tool and die professionals.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, and hard materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, and H. It fits indexable milling cutter bodies in the SECO R217.69-18 and R220.69-18 series. The positive rake geometry and micrograin carbide substrate make it appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes on difficult-to-machine workpiece materials in production and job-shop environments where tool life and edge stability are priorities.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-18 and R220.69-18. ANSI and ISO code XOMX180612TR-MD15 may also cross-reference to other XOMX-18 series toolholders accepting the same insert geometry and screw-mount holding method.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle locked out and all energy sources isolated per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex drive key to torque the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer's specified value — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket seating surfaces for chips or debris before indexing to a new cutting edge. Dispose of worn inserts in accordance with applicable carbide recycling or hazardous waste guidelines.
