The SECO 02656560 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XOMX180608TR-MD15, manufactured to the MP3000 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. It is a single-sided, parallelogram-shaped insert in the XOMX-18 series, featuring a positive rake geometry at 15.9 degrees and a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert provides two cutting edges, a 15-degree relief angle, and a 0.0315-inch corner radius, making it suited for high-wear milling applications where tool life in hard and abrasive materials is a priority. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians install these inserts in compatible indexable milling cutters.
This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and H. The MD15 chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation across these material groups. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and profile milling in production and job-shop environments where consistent surface finish and edge integrity matter. The screw-holding method provides positive insert clamping during high-feed passes.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-18 and R220.69-18 as specified by the manufacturer. Designed as a direct-fit replacement for indexable milling cutter bodies accepting XOMX-18 series inserts with screw-on holding.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians following standard indexable insert procedures. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer's specified torque — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket for debris, damage, or wear before installing a fresh insert.
