Product Description

The SECO 02656029 is a trigon-shaped solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance metal cutting in demanding machining applications. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards under the designation 218.19-160T-04-M08, this insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process and a micrograin carbide substrate. It carries the MP3000 manufacturer grade, which is engineered for cutting hard materials, steel, and stainless steel. The insert has a positive rake angle of 10 degrees, a 12-degree relief angle, and a T-Land cutting edge style. With three cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it delivers consistent performance across a range of milling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC tool setters are the primary installers of this insert type.

This insert is suited for face milling, shoulder milling, and general milling operations on steel, stainless steel, and hard materials. The MP3000 grade with PVD TiAlN coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability when machining difficult-to-cut alloys and hardened steels. The M08 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in medium-duty cutting conditions. Compatible cutter series include R218.19-32, R217.21-R160, and R220.21-R160, making it a direct-fit insert for those tooling platforms. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.

Key Features

  • Trigon (equilateral triangle) insert shape with 60-degree included angle and 3 usable cutting edges
  • MP3000 micrograin solid carbide grade with PVD TiAlN coating for wear and heat resistance
  • Positive rake angle (10 degrees) and 12-degree relief angle for reduced cutting forces
  • T-Land cutting edge style for edge strength in hard material and interrupted cuts
  • M08 chip breaker geometry for effective chip control in medium-duty milling
  • Maximum depth of cut 0.079 inches; corner radius 0.0472 inches

Compatibility

Compatible with cutter series R218.19-32, R217.21-R160, and R220.21-R160. Insert size code 160T-04 with ANSI and ISO designation 218.19-160T-04-M08.

Installation Notes

This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician using the screw-holding method standard to the compatible cutter bodies. Ensure the cutter body pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Verify torque on the clamping screw per the cutter body manufacturer specification. Index or replace the insert when visible wear or edge chipping is detected to prevent workpiece damage or tool body failure.
