The SECO 02640641 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the manufacturer designation XNEX080608TR-MD15 in the MP3000 grade. It features a trigon shape with six cutting edges and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering wear resistance suited for interrupted and continuous milling operations. The insert runs a negative rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style and a 0.0315-inch corner radius. Double-sided construction maximizes usable edges per insert, reducing tooling cost per edge. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists install this insert in compatible milling cutter bodies. It is sized within the XNEX-08 series and fits the R220.96-08 cutter series.
This insert is intended for milling applications on hard materials, steel, and stainless steel. The MD15 chip breaker geometry is optimized for these workpiece families, supporting both roughing and semi-finishing passes where controlled chip formation and edge stability are priorities. Its double-sided, six-edge design suits high-production environments where insert change frequency and cost per edge matter. Typical installations are found on horizontal and vertical machining centers in job shop and production floor settings.
Designed for use with the SECO R220.96-08 cutter series. Insert follows ANSI and ISO designation XNEX080608TR-MD15 and belongs to the XNEX-08 series platform.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the insert screw to the cutter body per the cutter body manufacturer specifications. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for debris or wear before installing a new insert.
