Product Description

The SECO 02637882 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert in grade MS2500, designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. It carries a CVD-applied dual coating of TiCN and Al2O3, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting speeds. The insert measures 0.278 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.109 inches thick, with a neutral rake and neutral hand orientation. Three cutting edges and a T-Land cutting edge style contribute to edge stability when cutting difficult workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists install this insert as part of a precision indexable milling system.

This insert is intended for milling superalloys and titanium as its primary workpiece material, with steel and stainless steel as secondary applications. It is suited for both roughing and semi-finishing passes where edge toughness and coating durability are critical. The MD08 chip breaker geometry is optimized for chip control in these material groups. Compatible cutter bodies include the R218.19-20 and R217.21-R100 series. This insert follows ISO standards and carries the ANSI and ISO code 218.19-100T-MD08.

Key Features

  • MS2500 grade solid carbide with medium grain substrate for toughness and wear resistance
  • CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 dual coating for high-temperature cutting performance
  • Trigon shape with 60-degree included angle and three usable cutting edges
  • MD08 chip breaker geometry designed for superalloys, titanium, steel, and stainless steel
  • T-Land cutting edge style for edge reinforcement and chipping resistance
  • Neutral rake and neutral hand for straightforward indexing without orientation concerns

Compatibility

Confirmed compatible cutter body series: R218.19-20 and R217.21-R100. Insert style code 218.19-100T, size code 100T. Designed for screw-held indexable milling toolholders accepting this insert geometry per ANSI and ISO code 218.19-100T-MD08.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Shut down the spindle and confirm the machine is locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure — do not overtighten the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
