Product Description

The SECO 02637877 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert carrying manufacturer grade MS2500 and ANSI/ISO designation 218.19-125T-T3-M07. It features a CVD-applied dual-layer TiCN and Al2O3 coating, a positive rake angle of 10 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style. With three cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, this insert is engineered for productive material removal in demanding milling applications. The inscribed circle measures 0.3504 inches, thickness is 0.1563 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0315 inches. The M07 chip breaker geometry is suited to medium-grain carbide substrate performance at the cutting edge.

This insert is designed primarily for milling superalloys and titanium, classified under ISO material code S, with secondary suitability for steel and stainless steel under ISO codes P and M. It fits screw-held insert pockets and is appropriate for use in production machining environments where consistent tool life and chip control in difficult-to-machine materials are priorities. Qualified machinists and CNC setup technicians working in aerospace, oil and gas, and precision manufacturing will find this insert suited to their toolpath and feed requirements. Compatible cutter series include R218.19-25, R217.21-R125, and R220.21-R125.

Key Features

  • CVD-coated TiCN and Al2O3 dual-layer finish for wear resistance in superalloy and titanium milling
  • Trigon (triangle) shape with 60-degree included angle and three usable cutting edges
  • Positive rake geometry at 10 degrees with 12-degree relief angle for reduced cutting forces
  • M07 chip breaker optimized for medium-grain solid carbide substrate
  • Maximum depth of cut of 0.0590 inches with corner radius of 0.0315 inches
  • Screw-held, single-sided insert with neutral hand for straightforward pocket seating

Compatibility

Confirmed compatible cutter series: R218.19-25, R217.21-R125, and R220.21-R125. Insert conforms to ANSI and ISO standard designation 218.19-125T-T3-M07 and belongs to the 218.19-125 series.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the tool manufacturer's specified pocket design — do not overtighten, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and susceptible to cracking under excessive clamp force. Verify insert seating and pocket condition before resuming cutting operations.
