The SECO 02637876 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert in the 218.19-160 series, manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards under grade MS2500. It features a dual-layer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 applied over a medium grain carbide substrate, delivering thermal resistance and wear performance in demanding cutting operations. The insert has a 60-degree included angle, a positive rake angle of 10 degrees, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a corner radius of 0.0472 inches. With three cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it is designed for screw-clamped toolholders used in milling applications on difficult-to-machine materials.
This insert is primarily targeted at machining superalloys and titanium, with secondary application in steel and stainless steel. The M08 chip breaker geometry supports medium cutting conditions. It is suited for use in production milling environments where consistent chip control and edge stability are required across multiple passes. The insert is single-sided, providing three usable cutting edges per insert. It is installed and replaced by machinists or tooling technicians in CNC milling setups.
Compatible with cutter series R218.19-32, R217.21-R160, and R220.21-R160 as stated by the manufacturer. Insert size code is 160T-04 per the 218.19-160 series specification.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician using appropriate torx or hex drivers as required by the toolholder screw specification. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or contamination before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut for the insert geometry in use.
