The SECO 02625453 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert designed for precision grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the LCMR160504-0500-FT style designation, this insert carries the TGP25 grade and features SECO's Duratomic coating process, which provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert is neutral hand, single-ended, and suited for machinists and tooling technicians working in high-mix production environments where consistent chip control and dimensional accuracy are required.
This insert is engineered for use on cast iron, stainless steel, and steel workpieces, covering ISO material codes K, M, and P. It fits into the MDT series tooling system and is a single-end insert, making it appropriate for standard grooving, profiling, and turning applications on medium to large CNC turning centers in both job shop and production settings. The FT chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation across a range of cutting conditions typical for these material groups.
Designed for use with MDT series toolholders accepting LCMR160504 insert seats. Compatible primary workpiece materials include cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon and alloy steel. Confirm toolholder seat geometry and clamping style before installation.
Insert seating and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an e-stop or locked-out state per facility LOTO procedures. Use a calibrated torque wrench and the clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer; do not over-torque the insert screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping mechanism for debris or damage before seating a new insert. Handle solid carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
