The SECO 02625451 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT series, designed for single-end grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TGP25 manufacturer grade with a Duratomic TiCN/Al2O3 coating applied through a chemical vapor deposition process, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert features a neutral hand orientation with an LCMR insert style and MP chipbreaker geometry, making it suitable for a range of chip control demands. Cutting width is 0.236 inches, cutting height is 0.177 inches, and the corner radius is 0.118 inches, which indicates a full-radius profile. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments are the primary installers.
This insert is rated for primary workpiece materials including cast iron, stainless steel, and steel, corresponding to ISO material codes K, M, and P. Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a safe, de-energized state and all spindle motion stopped. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-torque the clamping screw, as this can fracture carbide inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket for debris or wear before seating the insert. Verify insert orientation and hand before initiating a test cut.
