The SECO 02625442 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT series, designed for precision grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This double-ended, neutral-hand insert features a TGP25 manufacturer grade with a Duratomic TiCN/Al2O3 coating applied via a controlled PVD/CVD process, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. Key dimensions include a maximum cutting width of 0.157 inches, a cutting height of 0.177 inches, a corner radius of 0.016 inches, and an insert length of 0.630 inches. The MG chipbreaker geometry supports stable chip control across a range of depths of cut. Typically installed by CNC machinists and tool-room technicians in production turning environments.
This insert is suited for machining cast iron, stainless steel, and steel workpieces, covering ISO material codes K, M, and P. The LCMF insert style and LCMF160404-0400-MG style designation make it applicable in MDT-series multi-directional turning toolholders used in both roughing and finishing passes on ferrous materials. The double-ended configuration allows the insert to be indexed, extending usable tool life per insert. It is appropriate for both job-shop and production floor turning applications where consistent dimensional tolerances are required.

This insert is installed and indexed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure when securing the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid edge chipping; inspect each cutting edge before use and discard any insert with visible damage.
