The SECO 02625434 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert designed for grooving and turning operations in demanding machining environments. Manufactured to the LCMF160504-0500-FT style designation, this insert carries SECO's TGP25 grade with a Duratomic coating process applied to a C5 carbide substrate. The double-end, neutral-hand configuration allows for flexible tool setup in standard MDT-series toolholders. With a cutting height of 0.1770 inches and a maximum cutting width of 0.1970 inches (5.00 mm), it is suited for precision grooving passes where consistent chip control and edge integrity are critical. The FT chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across a range of material types.
This insert is intended for CNC turning centers and dedicated grooving stations used in production and job-shop environments. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon or alloy steel, covering ISO material codes K, M, and P. It is commonly installed by machinists and tooling technicians performing external or internal grooving, parting, or profile turning operations. The 7-degree relief angle and Duratomic coated surface help extend tool life in interrupted or continuous cuts on these material classes.
Designed for use in SECO MDT-series toolholding systems that accept LCMF insert style. Verify toolholder pocket specifications against the LCMF160504-0500-FT insert geometry before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an e-stop or locked-out state per applicable machine-specific lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert firmly into the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw with the appropriate Torx or hex key per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to ensure proper contact and edge alignment. Do not exceed the maximum cutting width or depth-of-cut parameters specified for the paired toolholder.
