The SECO 02623079 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert designed for grooving and turning operations across a range of ferrous workpiece materials. Manufactured to the LCMF160408 insert style with SECO grade TGP25 and a Duratomic coating process, this insert delivers consistent cutting performance in demanding production environments. The neutral hand configuration and double-end design extend tool life and reduce per-edge tooling cost. A corner radius of 0.031 inches and a maximum cutting width of 0.157 inches make this insert well suited for precise, repeatable groove profiles. Licensed HVAC techs, machinists, and metalworking professionals in production shops are the primary installers of this insert type.
This insert is used in multi-directional turning and grooving applications on CNC lathes and turning centers. It is engineered for use with cast iron, stainless steel, and steel workpieces, covering primary workpiece material codes K, M, and P. The MDT series designation and MT chipbreaker geometry are optimized for controlled chip formation during interrupted and continuous cuts. It is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it appropriate for shop floor stock replenishment or tooling crib management.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for toolholders and boring bars accepting LCMF160408-style solid carbide turning inserts in the MDT series.
Installation of carbide turning inserts should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians following machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the CNC lathe or turning center is powered down and all axes are in a safe position before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified for the toolholder to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
