The SECO 02623075 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT series, grade TGP25, designed for high-precision turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a TiCN/Al2O3 Duratomic coating applied through a physical and chemical vapor deposition process, which extends wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert carries a neutral hand orientation and a double-ended design, providing two usable cutting edges per insert. With a maximum cutting width of 0.118 inches and a cutting height of 0.177 inches, this insert is suited for grooving and turning applications where tight dimensional control is required. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
The 02623075 is built for use on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and K. The MDT series is engineered for multi-directional turning where axial and radial feed directions are both required in a single tool path. Typical applications include contour turning, face grooving, and axial grooving on CNC turning centers. The MT chipbreaker geometry promotes chip control across a broad range of feed rates and depths of cut on the primary workpiece materials listed.
Designed for use in LCMF-style MDT series toolholders that accept the LCMF160302 insert size. Compatible with turning and grooving operations on steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) workpiece materials. Verify toolholder pocket dimensions and clamping configuration before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle completely before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware for the toolholder to secure the insert without cracking the carbide substrate. Do not use damaged or worn clamping screws, as uneven clamping pressure can fracture solid carbide inserts during cuts.
