The SECO 02623071 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT series, designed for external grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a TGP25 grade with a Duratomic TiCN/Al2O3 coating, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert is double-ended with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.197-inch maximum cutting width, a 0.177-inch cutting height, and a 0.031-inch corner radius. The LCMF style and MT chipbreaker geometry make it well suited for controlled chip evacuation in medium-depth grooving applications.
This insert is intended for use in MDT-series multi-directional turning toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, stainless steel, and steel, corresponding to ISO material codes K, M, and P. It is used in production turning environments where consistent groove width and dimensional accuracy are critical. The double-ended design allows for two cutting edges per insert, extending tool life and reducing per-piece insert cost in high-volume operations. Machinists and CNC operators in precision machining shops represent the typical end user.
Designed for use with MDT-series multi-directional turning toolholders accepting LCMF160508 insert style. Suitable for ISO material groups K, M, and P workpiece materials.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping mechanism are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Verify correct torque is applied to the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the insert for chipping or wear at regular intervals and index or replace as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy.
