The SECO 02623067 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT series, designed for precision turning and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to LCMF style geometry with a neutral hand orientation, this insert features a Duratomic TiCN/Al2O3 coating applied for improved wear resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. It carries a 0.118-inch maximum cutting width, a 0.177-inch cutting height, and a 0.008-inch corner radius. The TGP25 grade targets cast iron, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Machinists and tooling technicians working in production turning environments are the primary users.
This insert is suited for multi-directional turning applications in both roughing and finishing passes where a double-end insert extends tool usage between changeovers. The MDT series insert style fits corresponding SECO MDT toolholders and is appropriate for job shop and production floor environments machining cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon or alloy steel. The LCMF160302-0300-FT style designation identifies the seat geometry and chipbreaker configuration, ensuring correct seating in compatible toolholder pockets. Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure. Follow applicable shop safety standards when handling carbide inserts, as edges are extremely sharp.
