The SECO 02623044 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert engineered for precision grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in the TGP25 grade with a Duratomic TiCN/Al2O3 coating, this insert delivers elevated wear resistance and thermal stability across a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 0.197-inch maximum cutting width, a 0.177-inch cutting height, and a 0.098-inch corner radius. The full-radius geometry and neutral hand orientation make it well suited for both left-hand and right-hand setups. Machinists and CNC lathe operators install this insert as part of the MDT (Multi-Directional Turning) tooling system.
This insert is designed for use in the MDT series tooling system and applies to turning and grooving operations on cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon and alloy steels. The LCMF insert style and MP chipbreaker geometry support reliable chip control in medium-duty applications. It is a double-ended insert, allowing the operator to index to a fresh cutting edge to extend tool life. Typical installations are found in high-production turning environments where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required across varied workpiece materials.
Designed for use in the SECO MDT (Multi-Directional Turning) series tooling system using the LCMF insert style with insert size code 1605M0. Compatible with workpiece materials including cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), and steel (P) per ISO material classification.
This insert is installed and replaced by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamping screw, as this can fracture the carbide body. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for debris or damage before seating a new insert.
