The SECO 02623036 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT series, designed for high-precision grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Manufactured to LCMF insert style with a TGP25 grade, it carries a Duratomic TiCN/Al2O3 coating applied via a physical vapor deposition-based process for enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert offers a 0.118-inch maximum cutting width, a 0.177-inch cutting height, and a 7-degree relief angle. It is suited for professional machinists and toolroom technicians working in production environments where consistent chip control and tool life are critical.
This insert is intended for use in multi-directional turning and grooving applications across a range of workpiece materials. Primary workpiece material categories include cast iron (ISO K), stainless steel (ISO M), and steel (ISO P), making it versatile across both ferrous and wear-resistant alloys. The double-end configuration and neutral hand orientation allow flexible positioning in compatible MDT-series toolholders. It is well suited for both roughing and finishing passes in medium to high production turning applications.
Designed for use in MDT-series multi-directional turning toolholders accepting LCMF-style inserts with an insert size code of 160304. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, stainless steel, and steel as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians following standard insert-seating procedures for LCMF-style pockets. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before changing inserts. Verify pocket cleanliness and seating surface condition before torquing the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Follow applicable shop safety and machine guarding standards during all tooling changes.
