The SECO 02616007 is a WNMG 432-MF5 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating under the TS2500 grade designation. The insert features an 80-degree trigon (W) shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0315-inch corner radius. The MF5 chip breaker geometry is engineered for light to medium material removal with a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. Six cutting edges are available per insert, offering extended tool life in high-production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists working in aerospace, energy, and precision manufacturing will encounter this insert regularly.
This insert is primarily intended for machining superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S), making it well-suited for aerospace components, turbine parts, and other high-temperature alloy applications. Secondary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K). Applicable operations include turning, facing, and boring. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with an ISO designation of WNMG080408-MF5 and an industry standard number of WNMG432-MF5. It is compatible with clamp, pin, and lever lock toolholding systems.
Designed for use in WNMG-style toolholders accepting clamp, pin, or lever lock insert retention. Compatible with toolholders sized for a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle WNMG insert. Suitable for CNC lathes and turning centers performing turning, facing, and boring operations on superalloys, titanium, steel, stainless steel, and cast iron.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is stopped and all motion is fully arrested before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before engaging the clamp, pin, or lever lock mechanism. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris prior to each index to prevent insert rocking and premature edge failure.
