The SECO 02615993 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG 432-MF4 series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning, boring, and facing operations. It carries a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating over a carbide substrate, pairing moderate-to-high wear resistance with toughness suited to demanding workpiece materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 0.0315 inch corner radius, and 4 usable cutting edges. The MF4 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and medium machining passes. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install this insert in compatible toolholders using clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods.
The 02615993 is suited for turning superalloys and titanium as its primary workpiece materials, with strong secondary performance on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The TS2500 grade provides a balance of wear resistance and toughness across ISO application categories P, M, K, and S, making it a versatile choice for mixed-material production runs. Typical applications include external and internal diameter turning, facing cuts, and boring on CNC lathes. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Do not overtighten clamping screws beyond the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure; refer to the toolholder documentation for correct clamping method and torque guidance.
