The SECO 02615989 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VNGP-M1 series, designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 35-degree diamond (V) shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake geometry. The insert carries a multilayer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating under the TS2000 manufacturer grade, delivering thermal resistance and edge durability when cutting difficult materials. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a corner radius of 0.0315 inches, it suits medium-duty finishing and semi-finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders for high-productivity turning applications.
This insert is rated primarily for stainless steel and superalloys and titanium (ISO material codes M and S), with secondary suitability for steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO codes P, K, and H). Typical applications include back turning, facing, profiling, and general turning operations. The M1 chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation in medium-feed conditions on these challenging workpiece materials. It complies with both ANSI and ISO standards and carries the industry standard number VNGP432-M1 and ISO code VNGG220408-M1.
Designed for use in VNGP-style toolholders that accept a 432 insert size with clamp, pin, or lever lock holding. Suitable for CNC lathes and turning centers machining stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, steel, cast iron, and hard materials per ISO material codes M, S, P, K, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping procedure. Power down the machine and engage the spindle lock before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench per the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not over-torque the clamping screw. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before each index to ensure proper seating and edge repeatability.
