The SECO 02615977 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TNMG 332-MR4 series, designed for high-performance single-point turning operations in CNC and manual lathes. It carries the TS2500 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer PVD coating of TiAlN and TiN, which supports elevated cutting speeds and extended tool life when machining difficult materials. The insert has a 60-degree triangular shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 0.0315-inch corner radius. With 6 usable cutting edges and a maximum depth of cut of 0.5709 inches, it delivers consistent performance in production environments where insert efficiency and cost-per-edge matter.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, boring, and back turning applications. Its primary workpiece material designation is superalloys and titanium (ISO code S), making it well suited for aerospace, defense, and high-temperature alloy machining. Secondary materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (ISO codes P, M, and K). The MR4 chip breaker geometry and T-Land cutting edge style help manage chip formation and reduce built-up edge when working with these demanding materials. It is applicable to production shops running high-mix or high-volume lathe work across these material families.
Designed for use in TNMG-style toolholders that accept a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Compatible with toolholder systems referencing insert size code 332 and industry standard number TNMG332-MR4.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before securing the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw or lever lock mechanism.
