The SECO 02615967 is a round solid carbide turning insert in the RNMG series, designed for high-performance metal cutting in demanding machining environments. It carries a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating and features the MR4 chip breaker geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert has an inscribed circle of 0.5000 inches, a corner radius of 0.2500 inches, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.2500 inches. With 8 usable cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it delivers consistent performance across facing, profiling, and turning operations. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers of this insert type.
This insert is rated primarily for superalloys and titanium workpiece materials, making it well suited for aerospace, power generation, and high-temperature alloy machining applications. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The MR4 chip breaker geometry supports reliable chip control across these material groups. It is appropriate for use in both roughing and finishing passes where T-Land edge preparation provides edge stability under interrupted or continuous cuts.
Designed for use in RNMG-style toolholders that accept a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle round insert with a 0.2028-inch hole diameter. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; ISO code RNMG120400-MR4, industry standard number RNMG43-MR4. Verify toolholder clamping method compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench or insert screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing clamp, pin, or lever lock components — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to prevent premature edge failure.
