The SECO 02615960 is a CNMG 543-MR4 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating under the TS2500 manufacturer grade designation. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, a negative rake geometry, and a T-Land cutting edge style with an MR4 chip breaker. With a 5/8-inch (0.6250 inch) inscribed circle, a 3/64-inch (0.0472 inch) corner radius, and four usable cutting edges, this insert is built for demanding material removal in production turning environments. It is suitable for boring, facing, and turning operations.
This insert is optimized for superalloys and titanium as its primary workpiece material, making it a strong fit for aerospace, energy, and medical component machining where high heat resistance and edge stability are critical. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. It is compatible with CNMG-style insert pockets that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.5866 inch, supporting both roughing and semi-finish passes depending on feed and speed conditions.
Designed for CNMG-style toolholders that accept a 5/8-inch inscribed circle, 1/4-inch thick insert with clamp, pin, or lever lock retention. Suitable for multi-use applications including boring, facing, and turning. Primary workpiece material is superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S); secondary materials are steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K). Material grades S10 and S20 apply.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians following standard indexable insert change procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Verify that the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping to ensure proper seating and edge stability. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque for CNMG-style inserts.
