The SECO 02615924 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMP series, designed for precision metal cutting in demanding machining environments. It carries a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating under the TS2000 grade designation, giving it strong wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert features an 80-degree trigon shape with a negative rake angle, a honed cutting edge, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. With 6 cutting edges and compatibility with clamp, pin, and lever lock holding methods, it delivers consistent performance across boring, facing, and turning operations. Installed by machinists and toolroom technicians on CNC lathes and turning centers.
This insert is engineered primarily for stainless steel and superalloys including titanium, where the MF1 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation at moderate cutting depths. It also performs in secondary applications on steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.3346 inches, making it suitable for both finishing and light semi-finishing passes. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with a corresponding ISO code of WNMG080404-MF1, and fits standard WNMP-style toolholders commonly used in production and job-shop turning applications.
Designed for use in WNMP-style toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 80-degree trigon insert with a clearance code of N and tolerance code of M. Suitable for CNC turning centers and manual lathes configured for clamp, pin, or lever lock insert retention. Primary workpiece material codes M and S; secondary codes P, K, and H.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench per the toolholder manufacturer specifications when tightening clamp screws. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker condition at regular intervals, particularly when machining abrasive or work-hardening materials such as stainless steel and titanium alloys.
