Product Description

The SECO 02615920 is a solid carbide trigon turning insert designed for precision material removal in industrial machining operations. Manufactured to the WNMP-MF1 series geometry with a TS2000 grade designation, this insert features a multilayer PVD coating of TiAlN and TiN for extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. It carries a negative rake angle, a neutral hand orientation, and an 80-degree included angle with a 1/64-inch corner radius. Six cutting edges are available per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shop or production environments will find this insert suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes on difficult workpiece materials.

This insert is engineered primarily for stainless steel and superalloys including titanium, with secondary capability on steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The MF1 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-finish cutting conditions where chip control and surface finish are critical. It supports boring, facing, and turning operations, making it a versatile single-insert solution across multiple tool paths. The insert is held via clamp, pin, or lever lock systems and conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with an ISO equivalent designation of WNMG060404-MF1.

Key Features

  • TS2000 grade with multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating for high-temperature and wear resistance
  • MF1 chip breaker geometry for controlled chip formation in finishing and semi-finishing cuts
  • Six usable cutting edges per insert for extended service life per unit cost
  • Compatible with clamp, pin, and lever lock insert holding methods
  • Negative rake, honed cutting edge for improved edge stability on hard and abrasive workpiece materials
  • Rated for boring, facing, and turning in a single insert geometry

Compatibility

Designed for use in WNMP-style insert pockets on boring bars, turning tool holders, and facing tools that accept a W-shape (trigon) insert with a clearance code of N, tolerance code M, and a 0.150-inch hole diameter. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; ISO equivalent is WNMG060404-MF1. Primary workpiece material codes M and S; secondary codes P, K, and H. Material grades M05, M10, S10, and S15.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Verify that the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before seating the new insert. Torque the clamping mechanism to the tool holder manufacturer specification and confirm edge indexing is correct before resuming cuts.
