The SECO 02615892 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNGP 430.5-MF1 series, designed for high-performance metal cutting in demanding machining environments. It carries a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating under the TS2000 grade designation, which provides wear resistance and heat tolerance during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.0079-inch corner radius, and four cutting edges for extended tool life. The MF1 chip breaker geometry produces a sharp cutting edge suited for finishing and medium operations on difficult materials.
This insert is engineered for primary use on stainless steel and superalloys and titanium, with secondary capability on steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Typical applications include boring, facing, and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers in production machine shops and job shops. The negative rake geometry and CNGP insert style are compatible with standard clamp, pin, and lever lock toolholding systems. Designed for use in CNGP-style toolholders with clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S). Secondary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, K, and H). Material grades M05, M10, S10, and S15 apply.
Machinist or CNC operator installation. Ensure the toolholder pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert to maintain proper seating and cutting geometry. Use the appropriate clamp, pin, or lever lock mechanism as specified by the toolholder manufacturer and torque to that manufacturer's specifications. Inspect cutting edges before indexing and replace the insert when wear or chipping exceeds acceptable limits for the operation.
