The SECO 02615891 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNGP series, designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a PVD-applied multilayer TiAlN and TiN coating over a carbide substrate, delivering high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation and 0.5-inch inscribed circle suits external turning, facing, and boring applications. With a sharp cutting edge and MF1 chip breaker geometry, it is optimized for finishing cuts where tight tolerances and surface finish are priorities for machinists and CNC operators.
This insert is intended for finishing operations on stainless steel and superalloys as primary workpiece materials, with secondary suitability for steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The MF1 chip breaker geometry manages chip flow during light-depth finishing passes. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.5039 inches, and the insert supports three holding methods: clamp, pin, and lever lock. It is a multi-use insert rated for boring, facing, and turning in both production shop and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in CNGP-series toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick, 80-degree diamond insert with clamp, pin, or lever lock holding. ANSI industry standard number CNGP430-MF1; ISO code CNGG120401-MF1. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping style before ordering.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench for the clamping screw as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and secure clamping.
