The SECO 02615889 is a VBMT 332-F1 solid carbide turning insert in the TS2000 manufacturer grade, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a multilayer PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating that extends tool life in demanding applications. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius with a sharp cutting edge style. The F1 chip breaker geometry and positive rake angle make this insert well suited for finishing and profiling passes. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert using a screw-holding method for secure, repeatable indexing.
This insert is optimized for primary use on stainless steel and superalloys including titanium, with secondary suitability for steel, cast iron, and hard materials. It supports back turning, facing, profiling, and general turning operations, making it a versatile choice across multiple setups. The neutral hand orientation allows use in a range of toolholder configurations. Designed for use in VBMT-style screw-clamp toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO VBMT standards. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S). Secondary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO codes P, K, and H). Recommended material grades are M05, M10, S10, and S15.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or tool-room technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw to the correct seating torque per the holder documentation. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure full contact and accurate tool geometry.
