The SECO 02615887 is a TCMT-style triangular carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in demanding machining applications. It features a multilayer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating under the TS2000 manufacturer grade, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability when cutting stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The insert has a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, a 1/32 inch corner radius, a 60-degree included angle, and a positive rake geometry with an F1 chip breaker for sharp, controlled cutting action. With three available cutting edges and screw-in holding, it suits production turning environments where tool change efficiency matters.
This insert is suited for horizontal and vertical CNC turning centers and manual lathes used in industrial and job-shop settings. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary applications include steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Multi-use applications include turning, facing, boring, and back turning. The F1 chip breaker geometry supports light-to-medium depth passes where chip control and surface finish are priorities. Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard-stocking insert for TCMT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO TCMT specifications. ISO code TCMT16T308-F1 and industry standard number TCMT32.52-F1 apply. Compatible toolholders must accept a TCMT insert with a 0.1772 inch hole diameter and screw-in clamping.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop, locked-out condition per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench and clamp screw for the toolholder to seat the insert correctly without cracking the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new edge. Do not use damaged or chipped edges, as carbide inserts can fracture under interrupted cuts if a cutting edge is compromised.
