The SECO 02615882 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCMT series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code D), a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. It carries a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating under the TS2000 manufacturer grade, offering wear resistance and heat control at the cutting edge. The cutting edge is honed with a neutral hand orientation and a positive rake geometry. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and it is held in place by a screw-type clamping method.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations. Its primary workpiece material designations are M and S, covering stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary applications include steel (P), cast iron (K), and hard materials (H). Material grades M05, M10, S10, and S15 apply. The F2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for these material groups. The insert conforms to ANSI and ISO standards and carries the ISO designation DCMT11T304-F2 and industry standard number DCMT32.51-F2. It is a multi-use insert appropriate for general-purpose turning centers in both job shop and production environments.
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-on turning toolholders that accept a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 55-degree diamond insert with a 7-degree relief angle and M-tolerance fit. Verify toolholder compatibility against the DCMT insert size code 32.51 before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver or hex key recommended by the toolholder manufacturer for the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
