The SECO 02614448 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VNGP-M1 series, designed for precision metal cutting in demanding machining environments. It carries a multilayer TiAlN and TiN coating applied via PVD process, giving it strong resistance to heat and wear when cutting stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V-style), a 0.375 inch inscribed circle, and a sharp cutting edge style with the M1 chip breaker geometry. With four usable cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it delivers consistent performance across back turning, facing, profiling, and general turning operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in production shops are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is suited for applications involving stainless steel (ISO material code M) and superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S) as primary workpiece materials. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials. It fits toolholders designed for VNGP-style inserts with clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Typical use cases include medium finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are priorities. The M1 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across a range of depths of cut up to 0.622 inches.
Designed for use in VNGP-style toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock insert retention. Compatible with material grades M05, M10, S10, and S15 per ISO classification. Verify toolholder bore diameter and seat geometry against insert dimensions before installation.
Insert replacement is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians following standard cutting tool change procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before handling inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-recommended screw torque for the specific toolholder clamp or lever lock system. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout control.
