The SECO 02594117 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation APKT1604PDTR-ME14 in manufacturer grade MP1500. It features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, positive rake geometry at 24 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style for reliable chip formation in demanding milling operations. The CVD-applied Duratomic coating combines TiCN and Al2O3 layers for wear resistance and thermal stability. With two cutting edges and a right-hand orientation, this insert is designed for single-sided use in face milling and shoulder milling applications. Licensed HVAC and industrial trade professionals familiar with indexable tooling will recognize the screw-held mounting method standard to APKT-series toolholders.
This insert is intended for milling steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for cast iron and hard materials. It is well suited to production machining environments where consistent tool life and predictable wear are priorities. The ME14 chip breaker geometry is optimized for moderate to aggressive depth-of-cut conditions in steel and cast iron. The positive rake angle reduces cutting forces, making it appropriate for lighter-duty setups and workpieces prone to deflection. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Designed for use with SECO cutter series R217.69-16 and R220.69-16. Confirmed compatible toolholders use APKT-16 series inserts with screw-held mounting. Suitable for machining steel, cast iron, and hard materials per material application codes P, K, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians following standard indexable insert procedures. Disengage spindle power and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the clamp screw to the toolholder specification without applying excessive force to the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper contact and runout.
