Product Description

The SECO 02594112 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI/ISO designation APFT1604PDTL-D15 and manufactured to grade MP1500. It is a single-sided, parallelogram-shaped insert with an 85-degree included angle, left-hand cutting orientation, and a T-Land cutting edge style. The CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 Duratomic coating provides wear resistance across demanding milling applications. With a positive rake angle of 8 degrees, an 11-degree relief angle, and two cutting edges, this insert is engineered for controlled chip formation and edge stability in steel and cast iron. Machinists and tooling specialists working with indexable milling platforms install this insert as a direct replacement or standard tooling component.

This insert is suited for milling steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary capability in cast iron and hard materials. The D15 chip breaker geometry supports productive cutting across a range of depths up to 0.6220 inches. It is designed for use in compatible cutter bodies from the R217.69-16 and R220.69-16 series. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and contour work in production and job-shop environments where consistent insert performance and predictable tool life are required.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide fine grain substrate with CVD TiCN and Al2O3 Duratomic coating for extended wear resistance
  • Parallelogram shape with 85-degree included angle and left-hand insert orientation
  • T-Land cutting edge style with positive rake for reduced cutting forces in steel
  • D15 chip breaker geometry supports depths of cut up to 0.6220 inches
  • Screw-held single-sided insert with 2 cutting edges per insert
  • Compatible with R217.69-16 and R220.69-16 cutter series

Compatibility

Designed for use with R217.69-16 and R220.69-16 series milling cutter bodies. Primary workpiece material is steel (P-grade); secondary materials include cast iron and hard material (K and H grades). Insert series is APFT-16.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by machining professionals or toolroom technicians. Before changing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer's specification. Inspect the insert pocket for debris, wear, or damage before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
