The SECO 02580770 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert engineered for precision grooving and turning operations in demanding machining environments. Built to the MDT series in LCMF style, it features a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating over a micrograin carbide substrate in manufacturer grade CP200. The insert has a maximum cutting width of 0.187 inches, a cutting height of 0.177 inches, and a corner radius of 0.094 inches. A neutral hand orientation and double-end configuration make it adaptable to a range of toolholder setups. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in precision turning applications install this insert where tight tolerances and coating durability are required.
This insert is rated for primary workpiece materials classified as superalloys and titanium (material codes M and S). It is suited for shops running multi-directional turning operations on difficult-to-machine alloys where PVD coatings provide thermal stability and edge retention. The MP chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during interrupted or continuous cuts. The double-end design extends usable tool life per insert, reducing per-edge cost in high-volume production environments. Typical applications include aerospace component machining and precision turning of heat-resistant alloy parts.
Designed for use with MDT series toolholders accepting LCMF160500 style inserts. Compatible with style designation LCMF160500-A187-MP as specified by the manufacturer.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Shut down and lock out the machine before handling inserts or adjusting toolholders. Use appropriate insert clamping torque per the toolholder manufacturer's specification and verify seating before resuming operation. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before each installation.
