The SECO 02573895 is a CNMG431MF4 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating and a CP500 grade designation. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape with a negative rake angle and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. The MF4 chip breaker geometry is engineered for finishing and medium operations on stainless steel and similar difficult-to-machine materials. With four usable cutting edges and an inscribed circle of 0.5 inches, this insert delivers consistent performance across boring, facing, and turning applications. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators install this insert on compatible toolholders using clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and manual lathes performing operations on stainless steel as the primary workpiece material. Secondary compatible workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. The MF4 chip breaker geometry is well-suited to light-to-medium depths of cut with a maximum depth of cut of 0.4921 inches. It is applicable in production and job-shop environments where consistent edge life on tough alloys is required. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with the ISO code CNMG120404-MF4 and the industry standard number CNMG431-MF4.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and de-energize the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key for the toolholder clamping screw and ensure the insert seat and pocket are clean and free of chips before seating the new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications and verify insert seating before resuming cutting operations.
