The SECO 02566464 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT series, designed for high-performance turning operations in demanding material applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating, this insert carries a manufacturer grade of CP200 and features an LCMF insert style. It delivers a maximum cutting width of 0.118 inches, a cutting height of 0.177 inches, a corner radius of 0.059 inches, and an insert length of 0.674 inches. The neutral hand orientation and MP chipbreaker make it well suited for CNC turning centers requiring consistent chip control in difficult-to-machine materials. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for use on superalloys and titanium workpieces, corresponding to material codes M and S. The MDT series is built around multi-directional turning applications where a single insert must handle axial, radial, and combination cuts without repositioning. Double-end construction extends usable tool life, making it a practical choice for production turning environments where downtime between insert changes must be minimized. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes within its rated cutting parameters.
Designed for use with MDT-series toolholders accepting LCMF-style inserts with size code 1603M0. Compatible style designation is LCMF1603M0-0300-MP.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the machine tool manufacturer's lockout/tagout procedures before any insert change. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and verify torque on the clamping screw with a calibrated torque wrench per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the cutting parameters specified for CP200 grade in superalloy and titanium applications, as overloading the edge can cause catastrophic insert failure.
