The SECO 02566327 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation XOMX120408TR-MD13 in manufacturer grade MK1500. It features a parallelogram shape with a 90-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry of 14.6 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert is CVD-coated with a Duratomic TiCN and Al2O3 multilayer finish for wear resistance in demanding applications. With 2 cutting edges, a corner radius of 0.0315 inches, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.4567 inches, this insert is engineered for productive face and shoulder milling in cast iron. It is a right-hand, single-sided insert held by screw clamping.
This insert is designed primarily for milling cast iron workpieces, corresponding to material application code K. It is suited to production and job-shop environments where consistent tool life and surface finish in gray, ductile, or compacted graphite cast iron are required. The MD13 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation at moderate to high feed rates. Compatible cutter series include R217.69-12 and R220.69-12 milling bodies. Machinists and CNC operators working in metalworking trades will find this insert a direct fit for those toolholders in both roughing and semi-finishing passes on cast iron components.
Confirmed compatible cutter series: R217.69-12 and R220.69-12 SECO milling bodies. Insert size code 120408 within the XOMX-12 series.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excessive clamp force. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
