The SECO 02566302 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI/ISO designation SONX120508TR-M12 and manufacturer grade MK1500. It is a square-shaped, single-sided insert with a 90-degree included angle, four cutting edges, and a positive rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert is CVD-coated with a TiCN and Al2O3 Duratomic coating for extended tool life in demanding applications. With a 15-degree relief angle and a 0.032-inch corner radius, it is engineered for precision face and shoulder milling. Installation is performed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians using compatible cutter bodies.
This insert is designed primarily for milling cast iron workpieces, corresponding to ISO material grade K. Its positive rake and Micrograin carbide substrate make it well-suited for both roughing and semi-finish passes on gray and ductile cast iron in production machining environments. The M12 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation at moderate to high feed rates. The insert seats in screw-held pockets and is compatible with the R220.99-12 cutter series from SECO.

Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the spindle locked out and machine power isolated per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to torque the clamping screw — do not over-torque, as this can fracture the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Confirm correct insert orientation (right-hand) matches the cutter body before engaging the clamping screw.
