The SECO 02566282 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI/ISO designation SEMX1204AFTN-M15 and manufacturer grade MK1500. It features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, four usable cutting edges, and a neutral hand orientation. The CVD-applied Duratomic coating combines TiCN and Al2O3 layers to deliver wear resistance and thermal stability during milling operations. With a 0.1874-inch thickness, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a T-Land cutting edge style with a 4-degree rake angle and 20-degree relief angle, this insert is engineered for productive material removal. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working with CNC or manual milling equipment.
This insert is intended primarily for milling cast iron (ISO material code K) in production and job-shop environments. The micrograin carbide substrate and Duratomic multilayer coating suit interrupted cuts and abrasive cast iron grades where edge stability is critical. The M15 chip breaker geometry is optimized for light-to-medium depths of cut up to 0.3425 inches. The screw-holding method provides positive clamping in compatible toolholders. Both high-volume production cells and lower-volume precision shops regularly use this insert family for face milling and shoulder milling cast iron components.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.53-12 and R220.53-12. Sold individually; minimum order quantity is 10 units.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Fully de-energize and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder specification — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide body. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before fitting a new insert.
