Product Description

The SECO 02566065 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation SEEX1204AFTN-M14 in manufacturer grade MK1500. It features a square shape with a neutral hand orientation, positive rake geometry, and a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert is CVD-coated with a TiCN and Al2O3 Duratomic coating classification for extended wear resistance. With four usable cutting edges and a maximum depth of cut of 0.3425 inches, this insert is suited for productive milling operations on cast iron workpieces. It is installed and indexed by licensed machinists and toolroom technicians in CNC milling and general machining environments.

This insert is designed primarily for milling cast iron, corresponding to primary workpiece material code K. It is compatible with cutter series R217.53-12 and R220.53-12 as specified by the manufacturer. The M14 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation during cast iron milling at moderate to heavy feed rates. It is applicable in both production and job-shop environments where consistent insert geometry and dimensional accuracy are required across repeated indexing cycles.

Key Features

  • Square insert shape with 90-degree included angle and four cutting edges for economical use
  • CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 Duratomic coating for thermal and abrasion resistance on cast iron
  • T-Land cutting edge style with positive rake angle of 5 degrees for controlled engagement
  • M14 chip breaker for effective chip control in cast iron milling applications
  • Screw-held mounting method ensures secure seating and repeatable indexing in compatible toolholders
  • Micrograin carbide substrate grade supports edge integrity at elevated cutting speeds

Compatibility

Compatible with cutter series R217.53-12 and R220.53-12 as specified by the manufacturer. Insert conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under designation SEEX1204AFTN-M14, series SEEX-12.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Before indexing or replacing inserts, the machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw and do not overtighten, as this can damage the insert seat or screw threads. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure full, flat contact.
