Product Description

The SECO 02566028 is a solid carbide octagon milling insert designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling in cast iron applications. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards under the OFEN-07 series, this single-sided insert carries a CVD-applied Duratomic TiCN plus Al2O3 coating for wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. It features a neutral rake angle, T-Land cutting edge style, and a D18 chip breaker geometry. The insert measures 0.7071 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.1874 inches thick, weighing 0.03 pounds. Installation requires a wedge clamp holding method in a compatible cutter body.

This insert is suited for machining cast iron workpieces in production milling environments. The octagon shape delivers 8 cutting edges per insert, maximizing tool life and cost-per-edge efficiency. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.2756 inches and a cutting edge effective length of 0.2917 inches, it fits mid-range material removal passes on both horizontal and vertical milling setups. It is sold individually but must be ordered in multiples of 10. Machinists and tooling specialists working with cast iron components will find the D18 chip breaker geometry effective for chip control in these materials.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide micrograin substrate with CVD Duratomic TiCN plus Al2O3 coating for extended wear life in cast iron
  • Octagon insert shape provides 8 usable cutting edges per insert
  • Neutral rake and T-Land cutting edge style for stable entry and reduced chipping
  • D18 chip breaker geometry optimized for cast iron chip control
  • Maximum depth of cut 0.2756 inches with cutting edge effective length of 0.2917 inches
  • Wedge clamp holding method; compatible with SECO R220.43-07 cutter series

Compatibility

Designed for use with the SECO R220.43-07 cutter series. ANSI and ISO code OFEN070405TN-D18. Insert size code 070405. Confirm cutter body pocket style and wedge clamp configuration before installation.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Use a torx or hex key appropriate to the wedge clamp fastener in the cutter body; do not overtighten the clamp screw beyond the cutter manufacturer specification. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
