The SECO 02566003 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation APKT160408TR-D15, manufactured to the MK1500 grade with a Duratomic CVD-applied TiCN plus Al2O3 coating. It belongs to the APKT-16 series and features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, positive rake geometry, and a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert is single-sided, right-hand, with two cutting edges and a 1/32-inch corner radius. It is designed for face milling and shoulder milling applications where consistent tool life in cast iron is the primary requirement. Machinists and tooling specialists working on CNC milling centers install this insert.
This insert is optimized for cast iron workpiece material (ISO material group K). The D15 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation at the cutting edge. The positive rake angle of 10 degrees and 11-degree relief angle reduce cutting forces, making this insert well suited for lighter cuts and finishing passes on cast iron components in both production and job-shop environments. The screw-holding method provides secure clamping in compatible milling cutter bodies.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-16 and R220.69-16. Confirm cutter body pocket geometry and insert seat dimensions before installation. Minimum order quantity is 10 units; each package contains 1 insert.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer specification — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert.
